Ian Gerrard FCA AIRM Cert PFS Acol FSI is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (1989), an Associate of the Institute of Risk Management (1993), Certificate in Personal Financial Services (1998), a holder of the Financial Planning Certificate, stages 1, 2 and 3 (1998) an Associate of the Compliance Institute (2002) and a member of the Life Insurance Association 2002, Fellow of Securities Institute (2005).

A former accountant in public practise, Ian is a former senior accountant of KPMG and Pannel Kerr Foster (1985-1991) where he gained extensive experience of accounting and assurance services to financial institutions; manufacturing and retail business, government and private client work. 

He spent several years (1991-1997) with Aon Corporation and Johnson & Higgins (now part of MMC Group of companies) where he was Island Managing Director of their insurance management operations.  During this time, Ian travelled extensively, providing business development and consultancy solutions, focusing on risk financing and offshore solutions for large organisations and private clients.

Ian founded the CGI Group in 2000 which comprises business licensed by the Isle of Man Government Insurance & Pensions Authority and the Financial Supervision Commission.


Debbie Thompson studied the National Diploma in Business Studies at the Isle of Man College (1985) and is a holder of the IOM Certificate in Offshore Administration in Company & Trust Administration (2002) and is currently studying for the Certificate in Financial Planning.

Debbie is approved as a Key Person by the Financial Supervision Commission and also approved by the Isle of Man Insurance & Pensions Authority and has 10 years + of senior administrative duties in regulated environments, with full appreciation of the interaction of financial, legal and insurance transactions.



Gordon Wynne-Smythe was educated at Castle Rushen High School. He studied for the Association of Accounting Technicians and is currently studying for the Certificate in Financial Planning.

Gordon spent several years (1989-1998) working for International Life Assurance Companies in accounting technician, administration and financial support areas, before moving to the Finance Department of a significant local manufacturing and retail business.

In January 2003 Gordon joined the CGI Group to assist with the daily accounting and administration support functions of the Group.



David Renecle, BSc, FCII, FICB, Dip. B.Man, has 23 years experience in the world of insurance. He started work with Royal & Sun Alliance, South Africa, becoming National Claims Manager responsible for strategy and direction. In 1994, he relocated to the Isle of Man where he assumed the role of Claims Manager for a self-managed captive. In May 2001, he joined Marsh McLennan - one of the world’s largest brokers and insurance captive managers - as a Senior Underwriter, where he was responsible for managing 8 insurance companies, including those owned by major global corporations. In April 2004, he joined CGI as an insurance underwriter.
